FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Where and when does my child get picked up and dropped off for the camp?
  • Drop off and pick up happen at 1201 10th Avenue, Grinnell, IA at the Charles Benson Bear Recreation and Athletic Center on the campus of Grinnell College. Please refer to the Natatorium via Google Maps. Campers should be dropped off no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the start of camp (12:45pm). Campers should be picked up no later than 15 minutes after the end of camp (4:15pm)


  • What should my child bring to camp?
  • All campers need to bring to camp is athletic shoes, a water bottle marked clearly, and a bathing suit and towel for the recreational swim. A change of clothes is optional. Hats and sunblock are encouraged if participating in soccer or baseball/softball. Campers in baseball/softball should bring a glove, if available. Participants in soccer must wear shin guards. All other equipment will be provided by the camp staff. Each camper will receive a T-shirt. 


  • Is a snack and drink provided if my camper signs up?
  • Yes, participants registered will gather together for a snack and gatorade at 3pm before getting changed for the pool. 


  • What is the approximate child-to-staff ratio?
  • We are proud to employ enough professional staff to meet the requisite child:staff ratios according to state guidelines.

 

  • What is included in the camp fee? 
  • Access to Grinnell College’s facilities, quality coaching, equipment, fun and games, a Sports Camp t-shirt, a snack and drink, and an open swim time in the college's pool. 


  • When are camp fees due?
  • Fees are due at check-in on your first session of camp.


  • Can I pay via check?
  • Yes, checks are accepted at the first session the camper registered for.


  • What happens if my child sustains an injury at camp?
  • All of our coaches are trained in First Aid, CPR, and AED.  We have med kits at all activities and should the need arise, we will call the emergency contact and/or services as needed.


  • Is financial help available?
